Meditation Room Policy

The purpose of the Meditation Room is stress reduction, and it is available for quiet contemplation, meditation, reflection, or prayer. To maintain a serene environment in the Meditation Room, we ask that you please refrain from any of the following activities:

  • food and drink
  • electronic devices (laptops, cell phones, tablets, cameras, etc.)
  • excessive noise and conversation
  • portable sound systems
  • candle, incense, or any open/closed flame
  • sleeping

The Meditation Room (Library 21) is available to all HSU students, faculty, and staff at all times when the library lower floor is open. Multiple individuals may use the space at the same time, maximum 6 people.  The first person to check out the room has full use of the room during the entire time scheduled, but we ask users to be mindful of the needs of others. Please use the space for its intended purposes, and treat others with respect. Academic study, group meetings, and any other activity that conflicts with the intended use of the space are prohibited. The space cannot be reserved by individual students or student groups for private events or occasions.

Keys to open Library 21 are available to borrow at the Checkout desk; use is limited to 30 minutes and the key is due back to Circulation within the hour. Please return all furnishings to their original locations, and remember to take your belongings with you when you exit the space.  Personal items of any sort may not be left in the room.
