New CAHSS Librarian Hired
Marissa Mourer starts her new position in the Library on January 11, 2016, but you've probably seen her around campus in her role as the Director of Orientation and Preview Programs since 2010. Besides coordinating large events and flipping the freshmen registration experience, she has taught first-year experience courses; facilitated technology & information literacy workshops for students, staff, and faculty; and taught weekly trainings for over 50 students annually. Marissa has also worked as a part-time reference and instructional librarian at the HSU Library, where she has focused on creating peer mentorship opportunities and providing Library Instruction for English Composition and Public Speaking courses.
Her research interests include hands-on learning spaces that embrace the spectrum of physical, cultural, and cognitive diversity; student- and faculty-driven digital storytelling; and serving distance learners. Marissa holds a bachelor’s in journalism from Humboldt State University, a graduate certificate in community building and a master’s in education from Eastern Michigan University, and a master’s in library science from the University of Arizona.
Please welcome Marissa Mourer, our new Librarian to CAHSS.
